Apprenticeship Application and Procedures

Applications will be accepted each month on the first Tuesday

9:00am to 12:00pm at our designated locations:

Qualifications Required for Apprenticeship Program

· Must be a resident within the Buffalo/Niagara jurisdiction of Carpenters Local 289.  This includes the counties of Erie, Niagara, Genesee Counties and the Townships in the County Wyoming of Arcade, Attica, Bennington, Covington, Eagles, Java, Middlebury, Orangeville, Sheldon and Wethersfield.

· Must be 18 years of age or older

· Must be a High School graduate or have a G.E.D.

· Must have a driver’s license and reliable means of transportation to report to work and school.

· Must be physically able to perform work as a carpenter.

· Must be drug tested prior to working.  Provided by the Apprenticeship Committee.

· Must have personal interview with Contractor and Union representative.

Pass a basic math aptitude test required by the Department of Labor.

 

Applicant must submit the required documents of proof when offered a position to enter the Apprenticeship Program.  Failure to provide the Apprenticeship Committee with the required proofs will result in immediate dismissal from the program.
